Udumbara - mystic rare flower.

Hello Friends, really incredible it is, I did not believe it myself
at first, though I adore to read about strange and unexplainable things in the world, this was really fascinating that made me lost for some time. I don’t know how you would treat it but I can’t help sharing it with you all.

Can you believe that there is a flower that blossoms once in every three thousand years, at least it is a real news to me. I am not concerned how beautiful it is or how fragrant it is. But the very fact that it blooms after a time gap of three millennia makes it very special. It is said that it symbolizes the arrival of the Noble king of Falun (Law Wheel). This flower was seen in Fermont, Clifornia on August 8th 2007. This flower called UDUMBARA was first reported in 1997 in Korea.

Lisa Wei and her 5 year old daughter Tianhui Yang were going to Minghai School at around 8-00 AM when the girl Tianhui recognized them. She noticed this extremely rare flower on the leaves of an oleander tree on the side of Warn Springs Blvd in Fremont, about 150 ft south of Starlite Way Crossing.

The tiny, delicate flowers are said to be of white color and grow suspended on thread like stalks that are thinner than human hair. That day Udumbara appeared on 8 leaves. Some had 30 buds on them and some had 40, 50, or 60 buds.

Apart from this instance the sight of these flowers have been reported from various other countries too like Australia, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan. This flower is also said to have sprouted from Buddha Statues, bricks, glasses, iron tubes and plant leaves. It is believed that the Udumbara is a flower of heaven and does not belong to human world and only reincarnating of Tathagatha or the appearance of the Noble King of Falun would cause appearance of this flower in human world. It is said that there are few Buddhist scriptures and scrolls where there is a clear mention of this flower.

It is further said that the Udumbara flower is enclosed within a fig-like fruit structure and was difficult to see. The flower is stated to be very fragrant and also that it retained its fragrance even after falling from its stem. A fully awakened person or a Buddha is compared to a flower of Udumbara as he is so difficult to see as the said flower. I request my friends not to mistake it with the Oudumbara Vruksha (ficus glomerata) or Cluster fig tree which is a variety of fig-tree held sacred in India. It is said to flower at intervals of long centuries. It is a large tree that provides dense shade and edible fruit. Devotees of Lord Dattatreya, preferably observe their penance (Reading of sacred books, meditation, etc.) under this tree. Dried twigs of this tree are used in sacrifices. Its leaves are commonly used as cattle fodder.
